COACH IDENTIFICATION

CARD PROGRAM

WHAT IS IT?

Coaches play a vital role in the experience, development and enjoyment of the participants.

Football Manitoba wants to ensure that all volunteers in this important role have the training and other requirements completed before their participation in our programs.

Starting in 2026, all approved coaches will received one “annual ID card” for each discipline they coach.  Approved tackle coaches will be issued a Tackle Coach ID for use in any season they are registered within the current calendar year.  The same goes for Flag Coaches.

While there is no cost to coaches for their initial ID Card each year, in the event you require a replacement for a lost or missing card, there will be a $10 replacement cost to issue a new one.

While coaches will use the same ID card for all seasons each year, coaches must register for each season or league they are coaching with. Your ID card does NOT permit you to coach in multiple leagues or programs without registering for each individually.

HOW TO OBTAIN YOUR COACH ID

The first step is to register as a coach for the league, school or program you wish to coach with. Once registered, Football Manitoba will verify which training has been completed, or is required to meet the requirements based on the discipline and age level you are coaching.  For information on what is required for your experience as a coach and the level you are coaching please refer to the REQUIREMENTS page found under the COACHES menu item.  Note that some requirements are different depending on whether you are coaching tackle football or flag football.

After you are registered you need to submit a photo for your ID card.  In most cases a selfie is acceptable for your ID.  This should be similar to a passport photo as all we require is a head and shoulders image.  There are some other aspects that you need to consider before sending your photo.

    • Have your picture taken against a neutral background. No trees, flowers etc.
    • Do not try to remove the background from an existing picture as most times it results in a very rough edge and looks quite bad when printed on the card.
    • Glasses are fine however wearing sunglasses is not acceptable for your picture.
    • Pictures without hats or ball caps is preferred.

INFORMATION ON YOUR CARD

ID cards will include your current status of any required training on the back of your card.

While we make every effort to have accurate and up-to-date information listed on your card, there may be times when an error is made.  In the event of a discrepancy between your card and the Coaching Association of Canada (The Locker), the Respect in Sport database or our online background screening service, the latter will take precedence over the information displayed on the ID card.
