COACHING TACKLE PLAYERS – AGE 14 – 18
INTRODUCTION TO COMPETITION – POSITION COACH
Coaches will be taught basic and intermediate skills required to become a trained position coach in offensive, defensive or special teams position skills by an expert coach. The expert coach will also provide drill progressions, and will demonstrate how to incorporate these tools into practice plans.
Upon completing this module, coaches will be able to do the following:
– Plan a Practice
– Analyze Performance
– Provide support to athletes in training
– Make Ethical Decisions (MED)
After completion of the 12-hour classroom portion of the Intro to Competition course, coaches will need to attend a 2-hour Position specific workshop presented by an elite level coach for the selected position.
All Head Coaches require this course even if entering their first year of coaching.
All other coaches require this course unless it is not available prior to the season start but must complete this prior to their second season.
POSITION MODULES – REQUIRED WITH INTRO TO COMP
The individual position modules are offered separately as we require a minimum number of coaches to offer each position. In additional to the Position Coach workshop, completion of one position module is required to achieve TRAINED status. These modules are presented by a Coach Developer and an Expert Learning Facilitator who is considered a subject matter expert for the position being taught. Approximately 2 hours in length.
